Gold's Gym to lease former movie theater for largest area gym

From silver screen to lean and mean -- a former movie theater at the Baymeadows Festival Shopping Center soon will be the new home of the area's largest Gold's Gym.
Trammel Crow retail broker Randy Bancroft handled lease negotiations with Gold's Gym and The Simpson Organization for the 27,000-square-foot space.
Over the past few years, a market takeover by movie megaplexes has forced smaller theaters to close in Northeast Florida and across the nation.
Gold's Gym officials aim to move into the new space by the end of March, said Scott Tucker, assistant manager of the current Baymeadows location that will take over the new space.
Renovations will cost "right at a million dollars," Tucker said.
